Re-opening Clarence House Therapy Centre

and

Penzance Physiotherapy and Pilates

Plan for Phase 2 of Covid-19 Pandemic Recovery  Strategy

Clarence House Therapy Centre will be re-opening on May 18th 2020 with a very reduced service, as recommended by the government and our professional bodies. Following the strict guidelines  given by NHS England, The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, The Institute of Osteopathy and the UK government, we are permitted during this Phase 2 recovery period to only see acute/urgent clients for Physiotherapy and Osteopathy.
Our therapists (including acupuncture, sports massage, counselling, reflexology and life coaching as well as our Pilates and Yoga teachers will continue to provide an advice service via video/face time zoom etc as we have already been during the these last few weeks. If you wish to contact any of our therapists, Pilates or Yoga teachers for advice or a virtual treatment session, please check our website for individual therapists’ contact details.
As our main priority is the health and safety of not only our patients but anyone who comes into the Therapy Centre, we have put the necessary measures in place for the re-opening as well as to ensure that people can return with confidence.
We have undertaken risk assessments on the following measures to comply with NHS England and UK Government  Covid-19 guidelines to help minimise any risks of transmission of Covid-19 during treatment sessions.

  • cleaning and waste disposal
  • infection prevention and control
  • patient safety
  • PPE  (personal protective equipment)
  • social distancing

We are continuing to regularly follow these protocols and to update them with any new changes in the guidelines and to also update our website with this information.

 Our re-opening plan:

  • During this Covid-19 period, NHS England and the UK government recommend that ‘virtual first approach’ (ie tele-health consultations such as Zoom, Facetime, Skype or telephone remains the standard practice for providing treatment sessions to limit face to face contact.
  • Face to face appointments will only be offered to patients where effective treatment cannot reasonably be carried out remotely – all patients will initially receive a telephone screening consultation to assess their eligibility.
  • All therapists and patients coming into the Centre will be questioned to establish whether they are in a risk category and whether they or anyone in their household has Covid-19 symptoms or has been tested positive. This will enable the therapist to assess the risk to not only the patient and themselves but to others in their households or those coming into the Centre.
  • Every therapist will be wearing appropriate PPE, ie mask, apron, and gloves. Should there be any risk of splash back from body fluids, eg from a cough, the therapist will be required to wear eye protection .
  • The temperatures of both therapist and client will be taken and recorded, using a contactless digital forehead thermometer
  • All patients will be asked to wear a mask and if they do not have one they can purchase a mask from the therapist for £1.
  • We will are increasing the  frequency and level of cleaning using viral disinfectant products to help minimise any possible contamination. Door handles, treatment couches and washable pillowcases and WC facilities will all be disinfected before and after each patient treatment session
  • Hand sanitisers have been installed in each treatment room and the main corridors and outside each WC area .
  • NHS posters  have been displayed by each hand sanitizer and handwashing facility detailing safe hand hygiene practice
  • The front door will be kept locked and patients will be asked to await their appointment outside in the carpark area and to text their therapist who will then open the front door for them. This is to minimise the number of people in the building and contact with others. At this early recovery stage we are not in a position to provide receptionist cover.
  • Appointment times will be spaced out to ensure adequate time is given to disinfect treatment areas and to also minimize contact with other people coming into the Centre.
  • Each patient will be asked to sign a consent form consenting to a face to face appointment and that both the client and therapist are aware of and have agreed that the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks of possible Covid-19 infection.
  • As there is no receptionist cover at the moment, if you have any enquiries about accessing an urgent treatment session, please contact Dominique Royle on 07968 346648

We hope  that over time, we will be able to increase our service as permitted by NHS England and the UK government guidelines. In the meantime, should you need advice or a virtual first approach from any one of our many therapists, please check our website for their individual contact details

Thank you for your patience and understanding
